I have an old 16mm Blackhawk print of "Murder Case" that appears to have some water damage on the first 100' or so. I purchased it on Ebay so I am not the original owner. It's not visibly damaged in any way and there's no curling. Is it still playable? I don't want to risk damaging my projector.

I don't know if it's the case here, but every print I've seen of that film has the blotches printed in....there's even some soundtrack noise to go with it. The blotches look like water damage...but it must have happend to the pre print or whatever they used to make prints from. I got my first new print (at that time Standard 8mm sound) in about 1963 or so and it had that splotching during the scene on the wharf when they are fishing. Your problem may be something entirely different, but what I've seen ..which is also on my current Blackhawk 16mm print...is printed in.

My Super 8 print has no blotchy area in that section, maybe it was better pre-print

Brad,

It should not damage your projector.
