just want to say thanks for letting me be a junior member. my question is can i make a timing an alignment plate. new to 16mm projectors but i am an ex sewing machine mechanic, these machines are so similar to sewing machines. just want to learn how to install worm gear on my own projectors i have it ripped down ready to take out worm. but i am trying to get up the courage to proceed and not loose timing. thanks David.

From what I have read on this forum, it is a very, very difficult job. Use the search function and search for "Worm" or "Worm Gear".

thanks barry for info, after reading post it sounds like a real detailed job, its a shame that these worm gears didn"t hold up the test of time. i love watching movies in this format it started when my father let me run the projector and spin the reel because the bell & howell spring broke. i have 2 1545b bell& howell projectors w/ bad worms and 2 b&h 456a 8mm working fine after some tlc. in future will send 16mm out to have worms but in them. i think the prices are worth it to save these 2,
