This was RCA's last projector design from the mid-1960's and was later bought by Viewlex when RCA got out of the business. I've never owned one, but they have a poor reputation due to, of all things, bad amplifier problems. Wouldn't you think RCA would build a decent amp, but this was just the beginning of the solid state era whereas all their previous machines were tube types. I'd avoid it.

I agree with Jeff. An RCA 1600 was my first 16mm projector in about 1974. A part called a fluid clutch broke a year or so later. Then I got a brand new B&H 1574. Oh my gosh, the difference was amazing. Crisp focus from edge to edge, no flutter in the sound, and it didn't feel cheap like the RCA. Overall, a much more professional projector. I've had Elmo and Eikis too, but a well maintained B&H 1500 or 2500 series machine is still my favorite.
