My EIKI SL-1 makes a rattling sound on an off when running (film in or out). I think it is the worm gear assembly that has a metal worm gear driving plastic spur gear. EIKI recommended silicone grease. I am thinking a silicon moly type grease. Where ever plastic parts are include EIKI recommends silicone lubricants. However, those appear to be difficult to come by.
What are the modern equivalents? Definitely don't want oils that attack the plastics.
