Just wondering what 16mm or 8mm films are you watching around Christmas time?

I haven't gotten to any tradition yet and to be fair, don't have anything Christmasy on reels. This year however, I have borrowed Gremlins, so I think we will see that next week. 16mm fun

One of these days I will grab a print of either Miracle on 34th Street, or It's a Wonderful Life. I never saw either of these until 2 years ago, when a local independent theatre was screening it on back to back weekends during their "Saturday kid matinees" series. My wife had seen both and wanted me to go, so I did. Couldn't believe I never saw either of them until 2 years ago, loved them both!

Decided I would make it a yearly tradition with my family once I get it on film. Not this year, but hopefully by next [Wink]

BTW....Gremlins in a good choice, too [Big Grin] For this year, the closest I may come is showing my scope print of Lady and the Tramp....only because the ending takes place at Christmas (yes I realize that's stretching it) [Razz]

Usualy I didn´t find time to screen films at christmas, but last year I run White Christmas (35mm IB Tech.).
This year I want screen few cartoons, if it would be 35mm than Disneys "Cookie Carnival" and "A night before Christmas". If I decide to run 16mm than Disneys "On Ice".
Last weekend I watched a beautiful 35mm IB Tech. print of "Duchess of Idaho" with Ester Williams. It is not a christmas movie, but the location is sun valey with lot of snow and skiing, and I ve got a realy good christmas feeling.

Oh where to start. On 8 we were oh so lucky Derann released so many Christmas classics along with others. Some of my favourites are: Night before Christmas 1933, Santa’s workshop 1932 in fact I love all the Wilfred Jacksons. Others that prove popular here are : Cinderella Steve 9.5 sound, Santa’s pocket watch and depending on the audience I may slip in ‘Where Jesus Walked’. One cartoon I could watch forever is Christmas comes but once a year which is a pretty amazing 1936 Grampy.

The Snowman by Raymond Briggs…..and I was going to list it for sale but when I watched it on the DVD projector it kind of lost something of the atmosphere…..so it is going to stay along with its 8mm brother [Cool]

SUPER 8: A Walt Disney Christmas (Digest)
A Christmas Carol (Columbia Digest)
The Small One (Digest)
It's A Wonderful Life (Niles Print)

16MM: A Christmas Carol (Castle Digest)
A Christmas Carol (Hicks - Feature)
A Christmas Carol (1969 Animated CBS Afterschool Special)
The Small One (Full Length)
An American Christmas Carol (Henry Winkler - Feature)

This also sums up all I own that is holiday related so, for now, it works out well.

Hi Lee
I must confess the Holyland is only on the list because we're entertaining the outlaws this year, and they will enjoy it,I'd prefer Death Vengeance, but I'm a lonely man in a house full of women and outvoted !!! [Frown]

Ive never seen it but I would think 16mm print of Christmas Story 1983 would be scarce and fetch a great deal.

Tommy. The 1978 production by a University titled 'Where Jesus Walked' is another one which also made it onto Super 8 late in the 70's and always goes down well. It is a tour of the holy land so a good programme filler for this time of year and my usual overload of Christmas cartoons. [Cool]
