I am purchaseing a Singer Insta-Load 16
and I was wondering if there is any way to test the sound.

Updated News

THe 16mm Singer Insta Load works Great Except for the speakers.
I ran a test on the speaker circut with the speakers unplugged that part is a ok.

It's got to be a connection or bad speakers.
When testing the leads comming off the circut I get good sound .
when pluging in the speakers I get nothing.
Ill check all connections Plus run a check on the spk coils.Then replace or replace the speaker.

Turn up the volume control, listen for the hum.
Check the exciter lamp by flipping a piece of card across the light beam, you should be rewarded by "plopping" noises.
Or, as an alternative, run a sound film.

Wow Larry that's awesome this is my second projector.
I sure hope it works better than the B&H 535 model I have.
This B&H I wonder about it's been dropped becuae a chunk out of the base is missing around the flat edgeing that is.
I hope I'll figure it out some day.
The Singer Insta -Load is the one I am really excited about .
I'm going to get it to day going to buy it.
I cant wait until I start watching movies on it.

Bill has sent me a PM to say that his projector runs fine but has no sound. I regret that I don't know this particular model.

I assume it has a separate speaker. Check it from the plug itself. Apply a small battery to the plug contacts, you should get a click from the speaker.

Is there an amplifier switch, if not obvious, it will probably be on the volume control.

Does the exciter lamp light up?

Is there any noise at all from the speaker, perhaps a hum which varies with the volume control. If so, check further by inserting a small piece of card between the exciter lamp and the sound optics. You should be awarded by a loud "plop" if all is OK.

It may have a valve (tube) amplifier and one has gone down, although it probably has a modern transistorised amp.

It could have an amplifier circuit breaker which comes in after an overload, this is usually reset by pressing a button.

That's about all I can offer, perhaps owners of this particular model may be able to help further.

I should check the light that foes to the sound section of the film. I do not know about these models .
I only know this is one of my favoites. and thatI like this unit better thna my B&H.

I just need to ask how do you pull her appart to change the lightbulb for the sound if there ius one.
I played movies with sound and tried to adjust the vol & the tone and got no where [Frown]

Bill you want to make sure the orange load lever is down and take up arm is out of way.

Then grab the cover from the lower left side and pull outward towards you but don't pull to far, then you will lift upward gently it may take a little bit of wiggling to work it off this should expose the lamp for both make sure you use a BSW bulb for the sound, and try not to touch the new bulb with your bare hands use a cloth towel the bulb should just twist in. hope this helps I do have a few xtra bulbs for sound if you need one.

The exciter lamp should be the BSW code for this projector
If you can not tell if the lamp is burnt out you can use a continuity tester If no reading then the lamp is gone

The lamp lights still no sound. Maybe I have to clean the tiny lens? If it is not this maybe the sound switches aka Volume control pots are burnt out.

I found out that the internal spk is no good .
will change out some time.
useing the outer speaker port with a good speaker
