Are new 16mm spools still being manufactured and are there any available from U.K. sellers?
I believe that Tuscan in the U.S. are still active but they will only accept large orders.
Cans are still available in the U.K. but their web-sites make no mention of matching spools.
New Super 8 spools are advertised here but I have been unable to track down any 16mm spools.

Maurice, Julio Castells in Spain is still manufacturing spools (for all gauges) at the moment but is on the way to change his activities. Some capacities are already no longer available. I gave his e-mail in the thread I opoened some months ago in the general section.

Dominique
I believe that Julio Castells Guinart has no web-site for sales and contact is made by email.
Am I right?
Do you have a price list?
Posted by Dominique De Bast (Member # 3798) on June 04, 2015, 02:45 AM:
Julio has indeed no website. He can be contacted by e-mail or by phone but I don't know if he can speak Ebglish (he speaks French and of course Spanish), so an e-mail may be easier. I have a price list but it cannot be copy and paste, so I can send it to you by e-mail if you wish. Just pm me your e-mail address. Or if you wish a specific size, I can look for you and give you the price I see on the list through the forum if you prefer.

I am primarily looking for 2200ft spools for 16mm.
Posted by Dominique De Bast (Member # 3798) on June 04, 2015, 03:25 AM:
The list is in meters, so a 700 meters 16 mm spool (380 mm diameter) costs 26,5 euros and the can costs 19 euros.

Many thanks Dominique, A 700m spool will give me an extra 96 feet!
Did you say that spool production has finished, or are they still available from stock?

Julio Castells is moving in anothe business. He can still manufacture spools but no longer all the kinds. I don't know what the availability is 16 mm is. I ordered recently super 8 and 9.5 spools ; there was no problem for the 9.5 ones but several super 8 sizes are no longer available.

Last time I checked Tuscan were still making them in the US. All of their other subsidiaries closed down.
When I contacted them they were only making to order, and minimum order was, I think, 100 units.
They had some 2000 ft ones available for smaller quantities.
I wanted some new 1600 ft ones. They did say they would contact me if they got an order in as they would be willing to add a smaller quantity onto a production run, but I never heard back.
I guess if enough of us wanted some we could club together to get a run done.

I must thank James Romero from Valencia who sent me a P.M. with a link to an American web-site who can supply spools and many other needed accessories.
Unfortunately, for any purchasers outside the U.S.A. there is a flat rate of US$60 for shipping.
However, if we want to enjoy our hobby, certain expenses are often necessary.
