I have the opportunity to purchase two 16mm classic features 1954 "Creature from The Black Lagoon" 3-D & also 1953 "It Came From Outer Space" 3-D
The guy told me to make an offer but I'm not sure how much to offer him?
They are both complete no VS & in great condition with very few splices.
Any information on the subjects would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
RS

Hi Roger, I don't have an idea of price but I'm sure you've thought or asked if the colours are still good to get the 3D effect?
I have on super8 Creature from the black lagoon in 3D but with a lot of super8 films it has faded a lot and therefore the 3D effects are not very good now.
Just a thought 🙂

Roger, I have two Super 8 3D films and both have faded. The effects are nil now. Make sure these prints aren't faded. You'd be better off buying 'The Creature' on blu-ray. The 3D is teriffic.

I would assume that whatever condition they are in, both these titles would be very re-sellable at a later date. 3D or no 3D

If they are faded anaglyphic prints they would be almost unviewable I would have thought.

I agree with Dave.
If you look at frames from a 3D anaglyphic film the red and cyan images are printed slightly offset from one another. This is corrected for viewing by the audience wearing two-coloured glasses. The final vision is not in colour.
The projectionist also has to wear the glasses otherwise it's almost impossible to focus correctly. I know from past experience in the projection room.

300.00 each!

If the condition is very good and they are low fade, these are a rare films that would sell for very high amounts on eBay. If the seller said to me "You can have both for $1,000", I'd probably think it was the best opportunity I was likely to get. But if you think he's not too bothered about getting the market value, there's no harm in trying Pasquale's suggestion.
