I'm currently working on a Eiki NT-0 and have an issue. The material that surrounds the rod (hidden in the casing) has deteriorated. It has fallen apart and has the consistency of a crayon. I scrapped out the crumbling material and was wondering what I can use as a substitute. Thanks everyone for any help / advice!

Hi Douglas,
Your problem is quite common with the focus control.
I use a silicon rubber tube, readily available in UK and if you have difficulty in obtaining same, will send you a short length to do the job.
Send PM with delivery address if interested.

Hi Douglas
A silicon sleeve works well. You may be able to purchase pre-cut lengths designed for garden irrigation systems of varying diameter. Masking tape works as an interim solution.

Ideally the tubing should be soft rubber. The tubing used in the older bicycle valves works well.
