I found the following video on youtube and found it interesting. I never knew this service was possible.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=applicazione+pista+magnetica+16mm
I have passed on purchasing several 16mm films over the years due to it being in the wrong language but this would solve that so I contacted the company for further details. I hope it is ok if I share what I found out this could be useful for the 16mm forum community, I am not associated with this company in anyway.
I found that our very own Alberto from this forum is offering this service.
He told me the following.
euros 50 for striping each reel of 480 mt
euros 60 for striping each reel over 480 until 700 mt
euros 90 to re-record in english (or other languages) one feature
These are prices for 16mm, and will be the same for 8mm and super 8mm
Here is the address and e.mail were to write and send the films:

Very good news Alan !!

What's even more remarkable is that it would appear to be related to the legendary Marco's film transfer services.

But for 16mm, I believe we need a special designed projector as most of projectors around are optical sound only.
Cheers,

Wimbert...there are many optical / magnetic sound 16mm projectors around: Bauer P6, P7, P8 ... EIKI (almost all models), Fumeo (9251, 9271, 9211 models) .... Elmo , Microtecnica .... no need a special designed projector... There are a lot of popular projectors around that are born with optical / magnetic reading :-)
Alan... I do not make any re-record

Hi Alberto thanks, I just knew. As I am 8mm collector, I know nothing 16mm other than my Elmo 16CL and B&H. They are optical sound projectors so I thought most of them were just like them.
If we have only optical projector, is there a way to upgrade with magnetic head for reading the mag strip?
Posted by Alberto Carlo Vangelisti (Member # 5200) on June 10, 2017, 05:21 AM:
Hello Wimbert,
yes it is possible to do an upgrade....maybe some lab...
But it's simpler, quicker and cheaper to buy, for example, a eiki or a bauer .... here from stephan binder :
http://www.super8film.at/index.htm?http://www.super8film.at/projektoren.htm
they have many of the optical / magnetic machines at reasonable prices

Elmo made nice mag/opt versions of the 16-CL and 16-AL. They are a little hard to find sometimes. I have the CL mag/opt and another
16-CL mag/opt telecine model. I doubt you would be able to upgrade an optical only projector to play magnetic film as well very easily.

I can't speak for what is available in Europe, but in the United States, 16mm optical/mag projectors are pretty rare.
Posted by Dominique De Bast (Member # 3798) on June 11, 2017, 02:23 AM:
Barry, Heurtier made projectors that were only magnetic (for people who sonorized their films) and the "scopitones" (the French "soundies" in the sixties) have a magnetic sound. So, although optical sound projectors are more common, it's not too difficult to find projectors that play magnetic films here.

I have a Bell & Howell and a Kodak Pageant which not only have magnetic facilities but can also record.
Posted by Barry Fritz (Member # 1865) on June 11, 2017, 03:46 PM:
I have had several 16mm that played both, but had to buy Scopitones on ebay to test the mag function. Mag feature films in 16mm are extremely rare. My understanding is that they were produced to be sold to airlines that used them for in-flight entertainment.

Yes but now we have an option we did not have before ( as far as I know ) you can buy that rare film you've been after even if its in another language. Send it off and have it striped and re recorded.

Not meant to discourage Alberto's new venture, but cannot you do this with sound sync facility like our GS-1200 using pedro sync box?

Winbert... you can re-record for your own account through the projector Bolex 521 ...

Although I think it's a great service you're offering, I cannot find a great idea to take copies in French to dub them in English. There are enough films in English, no need to remove French language copies from the market
Posted by Alberto Carlo Vangelisti (Member # 5200) on June 12, 2017, 01:38 PM:
Dominique...not all is available in english, there are many titles in french, italian and german or spanish language.

BD Ciné has a reputation for having rare titles (the owner of the shop works a lot !) so I'm not surprise you found interesting things there. Back to the stripping, I would prefer to hear that you dubbed films into French rather that from French :-) Otherwise, I think it's agood service for those who shoot in 16 mm.
Posted by Alberto Carlo Vangelisti (Member # 5200) on June 12, 2017, 02:55 PM:
Certainly Dominique! In fact we are doing the opposite service already for some french, italian and german customers ... for you would be ok to buy rare English titles and, after the striping, re-record in French. (Fred Karali of Bd-Cine also has many titles in english) . However this is now possible because our prices are very friendly, we decided to do these prices just to make it easier for the collectors, as well as, of course, those who shot 16mm movie with the camera

Is this old stock paste Alberto ?, I did not think it was still available, as Agfa sold up in the early 80's.
Posted by Alberto Carlo Vangelisti (Member # 5200) on June 23, 2017, 06:46 PM:
Hello Paul,
this is absolutaly NEW stock ...not Agfa, better than Agfa.
We did ... around the world to find a new paste manufacturer ... that was available to produce a minimum quantity on our specifications
