Hey all.
The other day I picked up a Bell and Howell 2585 B 16mm projector at a Flea Market. When I got home, I found out that the projector didn't work, so I want to know what the problem is.
When I plug it in and turn it on, the motor doesn't work but there is a humming coming from the transformer, and the bulb does work. I took the back off to look in, and I saw the belt was intact, and the worm gear looked fine to me. Do you think it is the motor itself? Fuses? Where could I get it serviced? I saw in a couple places that Key Layton does repairs.
I would like it to be fixed, but I don't know if it is worth saving? Should I just give up? Sell it for parts? The guy I bought it from did tell me that he is willing to accept a return on it no matter the problem-should I venture that way?

Hey Max,
According to their site, www.urbanskifilm.com does repairs on those B & H
Projectors. I’d call or write them and ask what they think.
You can go down the rabbit hole of being a self-taught tech and buy your own parts or take it back and keep looking for deals or just suck it up and buy a refurbished one.
Good luck!
