oh dear, and its fading and a flat letter-boxed print,
well Mark, good luck to the seller thats all i can say.
For as long as there are people paying this it will keep the prices up, to think i just got an LPP print in perfect condition of a great movie for less than 10% of what this is at makes me feel ive got a bargain. [Wink]

I love Film Tom, but please pass me the Blu Ray, or even the DVD !!!

Some members would be in favour of binning both prints.

Utterly bonkers !!!

That is madness!! You must love the film to pay those prices or just won the lottery,Mark

Either that, or it's people who bid and have to win no matter what. I'm not really getting this at all.
Kevin, that is simply bonkers, to be honest with you, if films kept going up and up then i will gladly sell everything down to a tiny collection of a few films and switch to digital right now.
Show me the money [Big Grin]
It's just a movie!!
Great news for the sellers though. No getting away from that [Wink]

I like this bit,
"with warming color. There is visible wear and lines on the image including an occasional emulsion scratch. But the film is complete and in good, runnable condition"

In other words, its red and scratched. But again, the seller is very honest.

I wonder what my un-faded Derann Super 8 Agfa 'scope feature of Halloween would go for? Any takers [Big Grin]

Thats one id love kevin but as you say, unfortunatly for me, it would fetch you goid dosh on flea bay but only a nut case would pay a grand for a scrathed faded copy [Wink]

I don't understand it, I really don't... Why some titles and others not? Good prints of newer 16mm titles like THE USUAL SUSPECTS still go reasonably. This went for I believe it was £136 and one of the SCREAM films went for £200 and a bit.

I agree Steven it doesn't make sense when a few decent prints sell for much less than you would expect, that's eBay for you,Mark.

Who are the people actually paying these prices? I'm beginning to wonder if this is genuine. You really do need your wits about you when buying films these days. A friend in the states alerted me to a title being listed as a 1958 half an hour lpp in fine condition with nice colour on a 1200ft reel. I checked the title to discover it's actually an hour and no known edited versions exist. Someone is going to be very disappointed.

I fully understand and accept that a film is worth what someone wants to pay for it, but my point here is that its red and scratched. This, in my opinion, is a crap copy. How could you show it to an audience to impress them, they'd laugh at it. This is a classic example of how to get people asking "why still have film if it looks like this"?

If it was bought for nostalgic purposes Tom it really wouldn't matter too much about fade and scratches,I can't see it being bought by a collector knowing what we know about these things, who knows the reason or why it went for so much but it is a huge amount of money to spend,Mark

Sorry I didn't reply sooner to your post Mark I spent last night on the town celebrating the sale of my Halloween feature - only joking and honestly I wouldn't sleep properly if I thought I had ever sold a poor condition film for such a ridiculous amount even if one of the deluded hyper-bidders offered it to me.

Tom - sadly there are members out there happier to buy and project crap like these faded Halloween prints and force their audiences to 'enjoy' (more like endure) them just because they are on real film - scratched, faded, incomplete, black and white prints of colour originals, etc. anything as long as it is on celluloid.

It's still a hell of a lot to pay for the privilege,Kevin. Hope you've recovered from your hard night's of partying!!!! Mark

If only I could Mark I'm teetotal now so my partying days are well and truly over!

A famous quotation relevant to limitless spending comes to mind:

"A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted" - Thomas Tusser

Well a heavy night on the town window shopping then ha ha!! I'm teetotal as well so know what you mean,I think whoever bought the film drank for both of us,would explain a lot,Mark

The funny is, i have bought short items in the past & paid a normal price, once I've projected it i have sat there and thought, "is that it for a tenner"? If i paid a grand and sat through this i think i'd be found hanging in my film room with the rear reel still spinning around [Wink]
This is why i am much more choosy in what i purchase, and the stuff like this guy has sold is, (only in my opinion), only now good for selling on in order to fund a replacement movie with good colours. Mainly on 16mm of late.

Obviously the buyer must be happy with it, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, there have been some very good modern titles in excellent order going for 10% of this price, i guess, as we have said before, it is worth what someone wishes to pay, it takes all sorts to make a world i guess [Roll Eyes]

I just bought a 16mm feature of Escape to Victory, colours lovely too,odd line but nothing terrible,I was very pleased to get it and at £55 seems a bargain, maybe not such a cult film as Halloween but in much better condition and a lot cheaper,Mark.

Far better buy Mark, and at a sensible keep the hobby going price.

It does look as if prices are cooling on some things, I expected Usual Suspects to go over £250 at least.

That was posted too. And its good for the hobby.

You just never can tell.

I am finding myself far more drawn to shorts and trailers etc these days and run the features on the LCD projector mainly.

Best Mark.

I think I slightly over paid on my recent Rathbone 16mm feature maybe, but its a Rathbone !!!
