Hi all,

as an interesting addition to the does "Kong" make you cry thread - and no it doesn't make me cry...but what does. What movie or movies can always create genuine tears through pure magic and feeling..

I have 3 and these always - and I'm not ashamed to admit it, make me really cry:

"Captains Courageous" (1937); "Somewhere in Time" (Christopher Reeve, 1980)...and the Steven Spielberg classic A.I. artificial intelligence (2001)...those films no matter how many times I see them bring me out in floods. Lol

Does anyone have any that always affect them in such a way?

Watching 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn', I found moving, when I last saw it aged 16; also the scene in Tom Brown's schooldays where one of the boys was ill after falling in the river, and the Mother tells Tom that he pulled through because someone prayed for him.

Most crying moments are at the finale of the greatest movies. Some of my favorite classic movies will get the waterworks going right at the ending every time. Not always sad endings. Actually, many happy endings can bring the tears for some reason - City Lights, Modern Times, The Wizard of Oz, The Adventures of Robin Hood, It's a Wonderful Life... the list goes on.

When George shoots Lenny at the end of "Of Mice and Men". Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr played the scene so well it hurts every time I see it.

As a child, the one that traumatised me was "Lassie Come Home."
Not seen it as an adult, so I don't know if it would still have the same effect. I doubt it.
As an adult.....probably "Ghost" has come closest...but not quite!
