Does anyone know if all the Blackhawk Films 16mm copies of THE MUSIC BOX are/were of really good picture and sound quality ?

If not what are the ones to avoid ?
I hope someone can help me with this query .

My Music Box B,Hawk 16mm is really nice David.

But you still need to be sure as many B,Hawk L+H`s went through various negative incarnations etc.

There is also a very nice full length super 8 one Derann put out.

How do you recognise if a 16mm print is a Blackhawk print? Do they say "Blackhawk Presents"?

My 16mm prints of Laurel & Hardy shorts all have a certificate from the British Board of Film Censors, this no doubt, makes them printed in the UK, probably remnants from the old John King Film library of Brighton. He had most, if not all, of the Boys' titles. In fact, during their second British tour of 1952 they were on 7 July at the Brighton Hippodrome, and they visited the film library.

For many years the film catalogue carried a delightful photo of the boys with John King. Stan, I seem to remember, or was it Olly, was holding an 800 foot Cyldon aluminium spool with a few feet of film being held aloft with the Boys looking at the film. The statement below the photo said "Laurel & Hardy on their recent visit to the film library".

All these prints have excellent picture and sound quality, the prints are getting old now, but are well worth seeking out.

Maurice , Mark and Paul thank you all very much for your help and guidance regarding those prints.

The reason i ask is that i have been offered one of those Blackhawk prints which is in near mint condition and it may be one of the last one's struck. The private seller is asking quite a high price for it. [Smile]

Portland Films advertised Laurel & Hardy 16mm in an old Movie Maker, saying that the negatives had come new from America.
