If anyone knows of a source, I'm looking for 30 or so boxes.
I would also be interested in a handful boxes for 3x1600 reels and
a few 2x2000.
If there are more people in the UK looking for boxes, maybe we can place a biggish order and have them made to our specs.

Hi Rob. Often wondered if it might be worth getting some made.. Lets see what interest turns up.

Shouldn't two 16mm-reels fit into a box for a single 35mm-reel? Wittner has those boxes for 300m- and 600m-reels:

It's not unknown for people to get some made. Tony Hutchinson did many years ago and I bought some but he doesn't have any now. Elizabethan Film Services had a lot made a few years ago in single reel sizes that included 1600' and 2000' but I don't think they have any left. Theirs were corrugated card so not particularly good quality.

Not sure whether there's an equivalent in the UK, but ULINE in the US has 14x14x2 boxes that are perfect for 2x1600ft reels (www.uline.com)

Steven,

I'm looking at the boxes they have in that size:

Uline boxes

Which type do you use? The 'White Literature Mailer'?
I would prefer to have a box where you can open one of the sides, but I was informed by a couple of box suppliers here, that they can't deliver those anymore. I found a supplier here that does 14" square boxes (50mm or approx. 2" wide) like the one above. They are called 'Pizza style Postal Boxes'. They don't look particularly sturdy, but might fit the bill.
It would be a cheap option!

Hi Rob,
I just use the standard boxes - http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-4410/Corrugated-Boxes-200-Test/14-x-14-x-2-Corrugated-Boxes

but the literature mailers look like they'd work fine too...

I mainly use them for shipping rather than storage however...
