If the seller of this print is on this forum I just want them to know I mean no disrespect but I'm wondering what's so special about this print that it has a $2000 starting price?

I'm not asking facetiously, I'm just confused. I understand that LPP is really good but I've just never seen a print go for that high.

I was planning on directly asking the seller on eBay but I wanted to check here if I'm missing something obvious.

I personally agree it's an excessive price. Having said that, it get the impression that low fade prints are very hard to find, so as it could be quite sought after despie being flat, he may have felt it was worth a try before perhaps offering it at a more realistic level. There may be no low fade prints in scope but if there were, I'm sure one in good condition would sell for a lot of money.

Apparently this seller told someone via private eBay messaging that it's not even LPP (though his ad states it) and that it's really Fuji. (this is per a thread on the 16mm forum)

I had the chance of buying this title on 16mm many years back
from a chap in the US, a good colour print for about $150.00,
but somehow It got overlooked in the prints I was buying in at
the time and I lost out. That's life Jonathan,and one of my favourite
sci-fi films too, I still kick myself.

So I guess this guy's holding out for a poor sap to come along who knows nothing of 16mm and buys it as a fan souvenir?

I mean, I can understand a non-collector thinking that $2k is an ok price when you consider how much collectible 35mm film cells go for. If a fan will pay $10 for a single 35mm cell then that same fan might assume that entire reels of film are worth a fortune.

Of course, we all here realize that's not how it works.

This film would have been a great seller on s/8, I wish Derek had
released this,but I do believe that after the tepid response to
"Fantastic Voyage", it put him off sci-fi releases.
