Hi, I haven't posted on here for a while, but I regularly 'lurk' here and read what it going on.

My collection of 16mm films has recently got a bit out of hand and my partner is encouraging me to downsize it a bit. I have a variety of educational/schools films, cartoons (including some Disney) and a large number of spare reels in different sizes, as well as a couple of moviescop viewers and other bits and pieces. Rather than try and sell/give away things individually, I would like everything to go as a job lot and this would be free to whoever would like to collect it. I am in south Devon, UK and you would need an estate car or large hatchback to take everything.

I am not giving up collecting film, just planning to be more 'picky' in future. Please PM me if you would like some more information. Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Reading the thread about collectors and hoarders, I think in the past I may have drifted into the 'hoarder' category!

why not have a stall at blackpool or put them on the bring and buy or auction ,with the money you would make would pay for a nights bed and breakfast and you will probably pick up a nice film at the same time

Hi John. Do you happen to have any S8 600ft boxes still left?

What a marvellous gesture John - hopefully the lot has gone to a cine enthusiast, maybe someone starting out to get them into the hobby - fingers crossed not to anyone simply planning to profiteer from your generosity.

Kevin

Kevin, thanks for the kind words. Yes I am happy that the films have gone to a collector. The problems is that 60 or so 800ft reels of 16mm film takes up a lot of space (not to mention the empty reels and cans in my shed) and my house isn't that big. So offering the films for free is a way of getting the whole lot cleared and if some of the films get sold to fund the petrol costs then that's fine by me!

Trying to sell the individual titles will take a lot of work and I would still have a lot of stuff left. I can't bear to throw film away so this gift was the best solution for me.

I encourage anyone else in a similar situation to do the same as it's very cathartic!
