Eiki EX-4100 Xenon lamp 16mm sound projector in full working order.
The Xenon lamp is working, with only a few hours use, and appears to be rated at 1000W.
Until very recently it was in full use by a top Soho film post production company.
Directors would come to see their rushes and edits projected with it in the in-house cinema.
The owner is asking a price of £600, and delivery costs would be about £80.00.(UK only)
Please e-mail me to enable me to put you in contact with the owner.

Excellent machine and price.
If I had the room I'd snap it up.

The sale of this machine was going through with a member of this Forum.
Our member has now received an e-mail stating that the price has gone up to £1350.00.
He has, naturally, declined to pay this amount.
I imagine that the present owner has had a better offer, and is trying to up the price even more.

That plain stinks - if the seller made a deal with the forum member then that's the price!! End of story.

IMHO THAT IS OUT OF LINE...

Hugh, I would be having words with whoever asked you to post this picture!

I don't know who the seller is but, my feeling is we, as collectors, should be actively trying to expose such sellers and their dealings.

I was contacted by the seller, through my cinema site, informing me that he had this projector for sale. The reason for the sale was that his company were going over to digital.
I e-mail him back and asked about the selling price, and received a reply stating £600.00 plus £80.00 transport costs.
This I thought was a reasonable amount to pay.
As the projector was of no interest to me, I already own an EX6100, I informed the seller that I would place the projector details on our Forum. For this he thanked me.
One of our members then contacted me expressing interest in purchasing the machine, and I put him in touch with the seller.
After a few days I was informed by our forum member that the price had been increased to £1350.
I quite agree with you Michael when you state "If the seller made a deal with the forum member then that's the price!! End of story".
I was not making a penny from the transaction, but just acting as a go-between.

Thanks for the rundown, Hugh.
I agree that £600 was a bargain for this machine but, if that was the price agreed on then that is the price.
Oh well....
There are so many shysters turning up in the hobby over the past couple of years - it just irritates me.

Michael,
This isn't a "shyster turning up in the hobby" at all; it's a commercial organization setting out to dispose of one of it's assets, first by offering it directly to Hugh and then trying to sell it on any market it can. It would be stupid not to try and get the best price it can from any buyer it can find (just like Derann or Marriot's or any other dealer). Yes, it's galling for a buyer not to get the bargain he had hoped for.... but it happens all the time in all fields (ever heard of gazumping?)
Nothing personal intended here to the unknown Forum Member.... but not all Forum Members are "hobbyists"; some are Dealers of one sort or another (including on Ebay) always on the lookout for well priced items to sell on themselves for a profit. That's the big, bad, world we live in; there's no point in personally getting upset at what is perfectly normal in this commercial world.

Ah, then I'm mistaken.
From Hugh's post above I was under the impression that the sale had been agreed at £600 with a buyer.

Gentlemen,
Just to clarify and draw a line under this scenario, I can confirm I am the 8mm Forum member who wanted to buy the projector and decided not to once the seller had clarified the considerable price difference which was way above my budget.
Hugh had been told one price by the seller, £600 plus £80 shipping, which then became £1350 when the seller replied to me in more detail upon his return after being out of the country for a while.
I personally wanted the machine as a permanent installation in my home cinema, and sincerely thank Hugh for his many email replies as he gave me various detailed dimensions and technical information from his own machine (the EX-6100) so I could ascertain the projector would be suitable for my needs.
Regarding pricing of pedistal 16mm projectors, they rarely sell for huge amounts due to their size and lack of portability - I have seen a number of similar Eiki and Fumeo models sell for around the £400 to £800 mark over the years.
