I'm looking for a cheap ,light weight, kind on film ,16mm Projector to handle a 1600 reels.

A great projector for the money is the Graflex/Telex slot load units.They have an adjustable film gate and are gentile on film.The can take up to a fifteen inch 2000/2300 reel.These projectors are a bit larger than Eiki's or Elmo's which are also great machines but weigh about the same and can be bought very reasonable.Good luck on your search.

Hi Richard thanks for the info. I want a projector with very few fan belt or gear things to fix in it. Do you know of any elmo projectors? I have a elmo super 8 for over 30 years that I love and only have a fan belt or fuse to change once in a blue moon.

I've found the most dependable and easiest to repair have been the Eiki series. I have a RM-1 and a RT-1.
There are plenty of them around.

Elmo is also a good machine.I remember seeing one on the 16mm forum a few days ago.The Eiki's are also good.There were some on ebay I saw today.I picked up a Eiki SL-1 last year on the 16mm forum for 100.00.It runs excellent and is more compact than my Telex machines.One thing I like about the Telex is that it has metal spring arm drive belts.The Eiki has rubber belts however they are not hard to change.Both Telex and Eiki have easy to change Rubber internal belts .Not sure about Elmo's.

I just won a ELMO on eBay for $130 plus shipping its discribed like this. Vintage Elmo 16-CL Channel Loading Optical 16mm Film Movie Projector. In good cosmetic and working condition. See photos. This has been tested, confirmed in working condition. Powers on and Lamp works.
