Cant read it myself but if anyone can confirm this id be very surprised. I'm sure this cant be the case??
If it is it will almost certainly kill many sales of cine.
I'm watching this post very carefully.

There's something strange here... Seller claims it's a very bad-condition print with many splices and red color... but the photo belies that description. Which BTW he changed twice before the auction ended. Either this is a twisted joke or simply a very bad mistake (ie he had listed another film and copied his own text into this one by mistake). Personally I wouldn't give the "red color" statement any further thought...

Right- even my worst faded prints from the 70's didn't start fading for at least about 15 years.

That print will most probably be on Agfa stock. Agfa has had one of the best low fade stocks on the market. Many of the early 16mm prints on these agfa stocks are still holding up and showing no or very little shift.
I think it very unlikely that this Derann release would be faded. I think that as Jan said earlier, this guy has probably got his discriptions mixed up.

Upon reading this note yesterday, I checked my print last night. No problems. [Big Grin]

I think, if that the case like what Jan has said, then, whoever won this auction was so lucky. He bought Beauty and the beast for 112 EUR or 75.32 GBP!!!

This is almost the same with my case when I was bidding on Sinbad. The seller gave a wrong answer to the bidder resulting no one placed the bid more than me. Finally I received two complete reels of Sinbads (8 x 200") for US$ 11. This is the thread of the topic.

Another terrific story (as the result of the wrong description) happened to me recently. I placed a bid on films lot, where three parter "Clash of the Titans" and "Sound of the Music" were amongst the lot.

I asked the seller by focusing on these two titles, and he replied me with a wrong answer by saying the "Titans" had a problem. The answer appeared on his acution page (same like the case on Sinbad,) so other bidders could see our correspondence. Again, same case like Sinbad, no one was encouraged to bid more, since the items were in Australia and it would be very expensive to send them to US or Europe.

Finally, the lot was sold to me for AU$ 10.05 (eqv. US$ 7.63). When the films arrived, I quickly checked the Titans....and the conclution, there was nothing wrong with the Titans from reel one to three. Colour was beautiful. If the seller said there was blemesih, I would think because he probaly check on the scene where there was the nuance of heaven...which was of course unclear, since there was a lot of smoke being used.

For me, even Clash of Titans for only US$7.63 was more than enough. This is my auction for Clash of the Titans.

Cheers,

I hope I'm getting lucky myself... [Smile] A while ago I had missed out on a Blackhawk print of L&H's Below Zero which is one of my all-time favorite shorts of theirs... it sold at $18.00 on eBay. Well, just won another print of it, this time for only $14.01! The catch is it's on an unmarked metal reel (w/ can) but if all goes well I should have me a good-condition copy of it with no major problems like perf damage or bad splices. Woohoo. [Smile]
