Hi All,
We've all got film collections of varying sizes. But, heres a question for everybody:

Which one print is the jewel of your collection, be it, 8mm, 16mm or 9.5mm?

Mine is a near mint 16mm print of ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN.

How do I pick just one? OK it has to be my 16mm "Bride of Frankenstein", but it was a very close call.

Many great MGM musicals in my feature collection, but the crown jewel has to be the 1951 Festival of Britain film 'The Magic Box'. A film collectors dream.

In super 8 it's a toss up betweeen To Have And Have Not(b/w on LPP Stock) and Casablanca(AGfA). Bot sharp focus and gorgeous!

In super 8...I'd say it's a toss up between Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade--scope stereo and Thunderball, scope , re-recorded stereo.
In 16mm--a mint IB Tech Horror of Dracula.
The tricky thing about this kind of listing is that tomorrow I could change my mind due to mood changes , ect.

If I had to get rid of ALL my super 8 and 16mm films except one, it would definitely be an unknown gem of a film titled HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS, AKA MONTANA MIKE. It stars Brian Donlevy and Robert Cummings among others, and I have NOT seen it anywhere, either on film listings or DVD. It's a childhood favorite that has stayed with me for more than 55 years. [Smile]

On 16mm it would have to be The Quiet Man (terrific colour). For shorts it would be Betty Boop - Snow White. (Although my wife would insist that it's Tex Avery's Bad Luck Blackie.)

On 8mm probably Dark Star. I think it just suits the 2x400 digest much better than it does the feature length original.

Wow! Horror Of Dracula on I.B.Tech. [Eek!] Bloodyer blood and greyer greys. [Eek!] One of my favs.

Osi, Casablanca looks great on AGFA. No tint at all! Looks very film noir. I got this print from Lee Mannering and am very happy with it. [Smile]

Shot in November 1967, a car arrives, a boy gets out, his new born sister is there along with his Mummy and Daddy. He rides his plastic motor bike, runs, plays with dad on the monkey bar, throws a ball and before you know the film ends.

Yep, jewell of my collection is me in beautiful Kodachrome from all those years ago.

without dubt my jewell is a 16mm ib technicolor print of ALI BABA AND THE FORTY THIEVES", MARIA MONTEZ STAR and on super 8 my jewell is a low fade agfa print of "THE THIEF OF BAGDAD" (1942)AS YOU CAN SEE I LOVE THE ADVENTURES ON SUPER 8!!!! [Big Grin]

I have no 16mm or 8mm movies. I'm a projector collector. I do however have three very rare original 35mm films from Pathé Freres (all from around 1905). They are now safely stored for me at the national film archive in Brussels. I also just got my hands on a 17,5mm Biokam film from around 1900 [Eek!] .

My "jewel"-

The Science Fiction trailer reel volume #1, released by L.A. Films in the early 80's.

All of the trailers are very well done, with classics like "John Carpenter's The Thing", "Road Warrior" (Mad Max 2), and "Blade Runner" are some.

They all flow so perfectly, not too short, not too long, just right.

And, best of all, absolutely no fade at all (Kodak low-fade stock). And booming sound. Best trailers ever.

I love my STAR WARS trilogy of features on Super 8mm and on 16mm it's got to be my REVENGE OF THE CREATURE feature in anaglypic 3-D!
