Peter, it's been covered quite a few times, since its release in 2004. Search the forum or start here.
It's good reading and a valuable tool for its exhaustive list of titles.
I suppose that, along with Juergen Lossau's books about projectors and cameras, collectors should have this volume in their libraries.

On the subject of books - does an English language version of Juergen Lossau's book on projectors exist?
If so, where might one acquire it?

The two books, "Projectors" and "Cameras" are in German and English. German on the left page and English on the right.

I got mine from the publishers, Atoll Medien in Hamburg.

The camera book was published in 2000.

The projector book was published in 2005, Jurgen says it covers 2,800 projectors.

Gerald published this in 1993, it contains detailed reviews of about 75 films in standard 8, Super 8 and 9.5mm, all in sound & silent. They are classified into sections.

It's a useful publication, but the films are obviously personal choices!

Might I recommend Kalton C. LaHue's "Collecting Classic Films", American Photographic Book Publishing Co. INc, Ny 1970 - 159 pages, fine overview of film history with film reproduction and size, projector and equipment information, importantly care-repair and storage, memorabilia, list of distributors (alas, what was then), and many excellent photos - LaHue was TOPS in his field of silent and early sound shorts also - Wish someone would try to find him again, seems he vanished without a trace many years ago - You might find his books at Allibris or some out-of-print bookshops in NY and abroad - Good read and very informative - Scott's CASTLE book is also top-notch, only wish there were more color shots of more boxes. i'd have happily opened my collection for picture-taking

I've managed to track down a copy of La Hue's book.

Shorty, does this cover 16mm film collecting or just 8mm?

Yeah, Lahue used to do a regular column on collecting antique cameras for Peterson's Photographic magazine in the mid 70s. For me it was always a must read in every issue. Great to hear he was so into film as well...it would explain why he wrote so many "antique camera" articles on projectors! I too have looked him up from time to time, and I seem to only ever come across the same crummy book on 110 photography he did for Peterson's. Seems this guy took the same bus out of town with Lenny Lipton and every other 70s photo writer whose repertoire was outside of gushing over the latest SLR.

Not books, but Filmtek's 3 dvd series 'Men Behind The Movies' covers the history of film collecting very well.
