So, who apart from myself will be turning up at the LAST EVER BFCC at Ealing next Saturday? It would be good to say hello to fellow members at the customary get-together at lunchtime.

I expect everyone here knows this, but in case anyone doesn't, the attendance will determine whether the BFCC continues at a new venue next year - so it's vital that everyone in south east England attends, and why not encourage non-forum friends too. We must 'use it' and not 'lose it'!

Film collecting forum members (from both forums!) to meet in the projection area at lunchtime. I've already purchased a 3 litre bottle of scrumpy as usual!

Remember, this could be the last BFCC, so just in case, let's try to make it a memorable one. Fingers crossed there's still enough interest to switch the new venue and that turns out alright.

See you there [Big Grin] .

John, by the sound of it, perhaps a "keg of Scrumpy" would be a better purchase!

See you on Saturday.

Can anyone tell me how can I find the shortest way from Heathrow airport?
Is there a train, bus or must I take a taxi?
Oemer

You can take the Piccadilly Line train on the underground from Heathrow directly to Ealing.

According to Transport For London, there is no service on the Picadilly line this weekend between Hammersmith and Northfields/Ealing Common. As the route from Heathrow to Ealing Broadway passes through Northfields, South Ealing and Ealing Common, it can't be done I'm afraid.

Oh, well. It'll be a brisk walk on the overground, then!
[Smile]

I checked on the tube site and there is a direct service replacement bus from Boston Manor to Ealing Broadway

The District Line is also down between West Kensington and Ealing Broadway, just to add to the misery. There are replacement bus services for all closed routes, but as always if you wanted to take a bus you wouldn't necessarily be at a tube station! The Central line is ok at least from Liverpool Street to Ealing Broadway, so that's me sorted then. Heh heh.

Doesn't the Heathrow Express overground train stop at Ealing Broadway? If not, take it all the way in to Paddington and then get the Ealing Broadway train back out (generally platforms 14 to 16). But be aware, trains in Britain are priced out of the range of the average mortal... Tiv of course, is not the average mortal!

You're correct John. I quite forgot. The Heathrow Express will indeed get you direct to Ealing Broadway. I normally hop on it myself from Ealing Broadway to West Ealing when I'm visiting Keith, as I'm too lazy to walk!

Well, once again i am letting myself down as i am unable to attend, with the possibilty this could be the last, (fingers crossed it wont though), it does make me feel a little ashamed. [Frown]
With so many people coming from overseas as well this would have been my oppertunity to ask so many people so many questions for the MAG.
All i can say is sorry for not being there, but i know it'l be great and i wish everyone a very happy Ealing day.
I will look forward to reading about it and seeing some pictures on the website.

Looks like this BFCC could set a record for the number of European visitors, and maybe overseas visitors overall, which would be fantastic in this day and age.

I've heard that Classic Home Cinema MIGHT (not confirmed) have have one or two new releases not previously available, so check out their stall and let's hope that Phil S does good business and is encouraged to keep on releasing new product.

Can anyone tell me how the bring and buy works at BFCC. Is there a charge per item? - from the selling point of view I mean.

Posted by Adrian Winchester (Member # 248) on March 19, 2010, 04:17 PM:

It works as follows:
You take the items to the stall and they are booked in on a list indicating the price - which is also indicated via a label on each item. You then pay a £1 'booking in fee' that covers everything. At the end of the day, or before you leave, you return to the stall and the team check what has been sold. You then get all the money less 10% commission, and take the unsold items.
A very good service!

Posted by Michael O'Regan (Member # 938) on March 19, 2010, 05:42 PM:

Thanks, Adrian.
That is a good deal there.
Is there a limit on the number of items allowed at all?

Posted by Adrian Winchester (Member # 248) on March 19, 2010, 09:34 PM:

Not sure if you'll see this beforehand, but there's no limit. But if anyone is taking large numbers, it's good to complete the list first, as otherwise the booking in can take a long time and the queue builds up.
