After a full year of going back to school, studying everything there is to know about safety, optics, mechanics, electricity, formats, etc. in film and digital projection, I took the state exam and just got the news this afternoon that I was officially admitted. I am now a certified projectionnist. Woohoo. [Smile]

It makes my ageing dad very, very proud. [Big Grin]

Other than that, going back to school and taking an exam at nearly 50 feels very odd and disorientating.

Naughty, naughty, Pasquale!!! I think you are taking advantage of Jean-Marc's (colloquial)English, good though it is. Shame on you!

Well, my dad being institutionalized should be a good proof of the family's mental health status... [Big Grin]

Trainee projectionist was my first job back in 1959, and I think I must have been certifiable to take it. The hours were long, Saturday being the worst, from the kids matinee at about 8am through to the late night show finishing any time after midnight. No such thing as bank holidays of course. In those days the chief proj. was like god or at least a sergeant major, the floor had to be polished daily and the brass likewise. I was born too late for national service, but I guess this was the next best thing. The odd thing is that, as a film nut, I quite enjoyed it at times, and it even gave a feeling of some importance. Eventually I settled for work in the film labs which offered office hours.
Good luck with the job, it is the last step in the production of a film after all, you can make it or break it, quite a responsibility, and you get a certificate too.

Yet another person joining the happy ranks of the past (myself), present and future projectionists.
