HUGO - BLU RAY/DVD

Well Hugo was released today in the USA. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and winning five, this in my opinion is Martin Scorcese's masterpiece, probably the best 3D film ever made to date, and a valentine to the wonderful world of the movies.
I am not a fan of 3D films, but I saw this at the local multiplex and it just blew me away. It is a gorgeous looking film and Scorcese has recreated the early 1900's Paris railroad station to perfection.
The film is a tribute to the early French film pioneer Georges Melies, and the sequence showing the making of some of Meliese's films such as A trip to the Moon will enthrall all film buffs. As will the scene where an early hand cranked Pathe 28mm projector is brought into action to show these films. I have just screened a few scenes and I can say that the Blue Ray quality will take your breath away - just incredible!
Wal-Mart has Hugo on sale for $17.95 for the DVD, $24.96 for the Blue ray + DVD, and $29.96 for the 3D, 2D, and DVD version. I puchased the full 3D package because, even though I do not own a 3D digital projector, if I do ever get one this would be the one movie I would want to show on it.
Extras include The Making of Hugo, Cinemagician Georges Melies, The Mechanical Man at the Heart of Hugo. I watched the extra features last night and they are amazing. The extracts from the Meliese color films are really impressive. I thought the Paris railway station was probably done with CGI - it was not, Scorcese built the whole thing from scratch! And that automaton figure, CGI for sure right? Wrong, it is a fully working mechanism built especially for the film!

A must have film for all movie buffs.

Enjoyed it in 3D at the movies, its still not released here in Blu-ray, checked yesterday, but is on the must buy when it does comes out.
