It was announced that Ekta now is on the block. I am assuming, given the slitting process, that that includes Super-8.
They will use up their inventory and.....

These announcements are so tiring and sad.

I will be on the phone with Rochester tomorrow to fill my fridge. If this is how I have to go, film-wise, it will be with the flag flying.

Maybe negative will be available for a while longer and that is fine, but killing old Ekta is killing a simple good film that they could have made more money off for a while yet. I am quite surprised.

Claus.

No, at the moment only the SLIDE-films are affected. The Super8/DS8/16mm/35mm-movie-ektachromes are still in production.

It looks like it's true on Ektachrome Slide Film.

— DISCONTINUATION NOTICE —
March 1, 2012
javascript:void(0)
Due to a steady decrease in sales and customer usage, combined with highly complex product formulation and manufacturing processes, Kodak is discontinuing three EKTACHROME (color reversal) Films:

KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME E100G Film
KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME E100VS Film
KODAK PROFESSIONAL ELITE Chrome Extra Color 100 Film

We estimate that, based on current sales pace, supplies of these films are expected to be available in the market for the next six to nine months; however, inventories may run out before then, depending on demand.

This does not affect KODAK PROFESSIONAL Color Negative Films or KODAK PROFESSIONAL Black and White Films which remain a viable part of the KODAK PROFESSIONAL Film portfolio.

Please note: E-6 Chemicals will also continue to be available.
KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME Film E100G
— for natural skin tones and virtually grainless images

KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME Film E100VS
— for vivid, saturated color

Very sad day witnessing the end of Kodak 35mm color slide film. Ektachrome 100D as movie film is superb. It will be gone when the present batch of film goes, I can not see Kodak manufacturing it just for movie film usage, but it sure would be nice if I am wrong. Time to stock up.

It's so sad to read of all this. The 3way things are going, FUJI may have a cornered market on super 8 stock in the near future. I have heard that it is pretty good, however.

... but Kodak has the "history" to it, which is I think, half the selling point of the film!

I HATE this modern erqa ... grrrr, where's my little hole to hide in? [Smile]
