My wife advertised a car on Ebay, and a buyer wanted to conduct the transaction outside Ebay. We had an email carrying the email address of Paypal, saying that payment has been frozen and you need to send £200 by Western Union to someone outside of Paypal, to get a code to release the funds. All enquiries to an address at accountant.com. When I Googled this it came up with a Scam originating I think in Nigeria.

I believe that eBay always says not to agree a private sale outside of eBay.
It just goes to prove that we must all be so careful when something pops up on our computer screen which doesn't sound quite right.

Quite right Maurice, we have had a few Emails that show the Paypal address. My wife's email account has been hacked more than once; not long back she received a letter from herself, it was an email that she had sent out about 3 years ago and was still stored on her computer.
There are some clever people out there, just a pity they don't use their knowledge to better purpose.

I'm pleased you didn't get stung Robert, but the big organisations
that profit from selling on peoples information are the ones to
blame.

Hugh, these people are clever, but not that clever, they often let themselves down by their poor English.
These were sent from an email address : service@paypal.co.uk, don't know how they manage that.
