People are funny on eBay,someone selling films on eBay just shows a 16mm red empty reel for all his listings.I like the ones who just show a picture of girl or a still from the movie. Why bother to even put a picture up.I'm not going to fork over hundreds of good hard money if I can't see what film looks like.

I have seen that seller with his empty reel. One dealer I know in the UK sometimes uses stock shots. I saw a 16mm reel advertised recently, the seller said he had no idea what the film was about as he had no projector; could have held it up to the light and read the title with a magnifier.

By ebay's modern rules, you HAVE to have a photo of some kind, even if it doesn't relate to what you are selling.

re no pic I very rarely inc a pic as its very time consuming when listing lots of films I on my films give a detaled descrition re colour picture quality and sound etc whats point putting a pic on also you can also a specific questions re film ,I have films on ebay with picture and details and they ask loads of questions about film which I have already stated ,then they never place a bid there are lots of messers on ebay I know who they are and I have blocked at least 7 from bidding

Osi says that eBay rules state that a picture must accompany a seller's listings, but other members seem to have no problems in listing sale items without a picture.

I only noticed it with UK sellers, I sometimes look at Ebay.com and Ebay.fr, and haven't seen it with sellers from other countries. I don't know the Ebay rules regarding pictures as I have always included a photo. Ebay have now improved things by letting you add more photos at no extra cost.

Have t look for that one about the 15mm film. I see quite a lot of Standard 8 cameras advertised as 16mm.

Couldn't find that film, but I did come across a 15mm projector to show it on. Another seller who didn't include photos.

Osi, it's in the sellers interest to supply photos, the more the better. If it doesn't sell you still end up paying listing fees.

I've found over the years that the general consensus amongst sellers has been that there's a greater chance of a sale when a photo is included, increased again when screenshots from the actual print are included.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but on Ebay in the United States, a picture must be uploaded to list an item. Been that way for at least a year now, and (just to confirm), I even tried a fake listing now just for kicks, and sure enough, it wouldn't let me continue. Keep in mind, the picture can be of anything, but they insist a picture is uploaded before you can list an item.

If people are doing US listings and getting around it, I can only wonder how they are doing so....I see no possible way around it using the site....
