Another Hollywood icon gone but not forgotten. And never to be replaced.

I am indebted to Kevin Brownlow's super book "David Lean" for the following.
"We had nobody for the leading role (in Lawrence of Arabia)," said David, "so I used to spend my days in cinemas in the West End (of London), and one day I went to a film called THE DAY THEY ROBBED THE BANK OF ENGLAND with an Indian friend. And there was Peter O'Toole, playing a sort of silly Englishman in a trout fishing scene."
"I said, 'I'm going to use him as Lawrence.'"

A great actor. Kind of like William Shatner, as he "lampooned himself to a great extant. I will always love "My Favorite Year" ...
"I'm not an actor! I'm a Movie Star!!!"
