Hi
My belt on the main motor is cracked and frayed and has to be changed. Is this a hard job,or should the projector be sent to Leon.
Has anyone here done it before and can guide me in the right direction. Thanks

I've never done a GS, but the ST belts I've changed haven't been that bad. Motor belts have actually been easy (rear spindle belts: a little harder).
I'm about to change a motor pulley on my ST-1200HD and I'd rather change belts any day!
The risk of damage in shipping is kind of scary, it's probably better if you at least give it a go yourself. If you take it easy and gentle, I don't think you can do any harm.

Bob, I have found, at least on my two GS1200'S, that there is no need to loosen or disassemble anything to replace the belt. What I have found is that the belt can be pushed off the motor pulley with a little thumb pressure. The belt can then be persuaded off the shutter pulley by carefully pushing on the far side of, it on the inside of the machine, with a small wooden or plastic rod. The belt can then be pulled out carefully between the back side of the shutter and the heat filter arm. There's a bit of a knack to it, and definately a fiddle factor, but I can usually change the belt in about 5 minures this way.
This technique was kind of born out of necessity on my machines since I have found the motor mounting bolts impossible to loosen.

The GS1200 is a wee bit different from the Elmo STs

There is sure a lot packed into that space!

Its easy to change....just slacken the screws "a wee bit" holding the motor, and off comes the belt
When fitting the new belt do adjust the motor position "up or down" to give you the recommended 5mm slack. Its like adjusting the fan belt on your car...same thing

Now there is a lesson for the Bauer T610 Graham!!
A good few hours of a job on these and then a good chance you have totally disturbed the crucial Cam and Claw precise set up!!
90 seconds on a Beaulieu though.
