Hi, I will be in Berlin next week and I want to visit vinyl (LP/record) stores.

So tell me 2-5 best store in CBD area.

I like cheap stuff, so don't point me to stores who are known selling new/sealed or specific genre which tend to be expensive. What I am looking is the store with bargain bins or $1 (or €0.99) section.

Thanks for your info.

Cheers,

Actually there is:

Andec

-although it is more oriented towards the filmshooter than the film collector.

(Maybe you can grab a few cartridges.)

I wanted to visit Andec when we were in Berlin, but we went to LegoLand instead. My kid had been pretty well behaved through all the beer halls and castles and cathedral tours:

-he deserved something for himself!

Having been to Berlin last year specifically to visit the Filmfare that Terry mentions, I can confirm that, despite the sign, it is wholly dvd. The fare is run by Michael Schneider who has the last remaining 8mm shop in Berlin. Looking on the website, the shop looks cool, rather like the CHC old shopfront, but the current reality is awful. Signage half away, graffiti over the front etc. Irregular opening hours. Real mess. He does publish a quarterly Der Filmsammler, which is mainly private adverts for sale and wanted across the gauges. This is only published in German. To be honest, I've tried dealing with Mr Schneider and if he was an ebay merchant, he'd be lucky to get 1 star. Just thought I should warn you not to waste your time if you do follow a link to his shop on here. Best of luck otherwise!

Bob, are there any stores across Germany that stock Super 8mm package movies in the way CHC still does here?

Obviously not necessarily new prints, just a shop that film collectors would be able to buy some used feature films from for example?

That's amazing Bob considering how keen Germany was in embracing the guage. There are still a lot of German collectors from what I can gather, I thought there would be more of these type of stores there than what we have here in the UK given the number of cine related websites ffR Filmtechnik, kinotechnik Rinser, Wittners, Andec etc etc.

I am both surprised and saddened Bob at hearing that news.

Hi Bob,

Many thanks for noting those other possible film suppliers.
Berlin is a wonderful place with fantastic transport across
the city...if you haven't been Andrew, take your good lady for an autumn trip, you won't regret it: )

Thanks Ron, I may just do that(if I ever stop buying films! Lol)
No I haven't seen Berlin,we've been to many other European cities on city breaks but never Berlin so far. [Smile]

I have been to Germany on many occasions through my work but I must admit, in any city I have ever visited, I have never seen any film shops anywhere and that stems back to the early 90's.

Wow Bob, you're really on the ball!!

Great to hear of super 8 opportunities, however slim they may be.

Andrew, Easyjet are running flights to Schoenefeld (Berlin)
at £80 per person return (Out 5th Oct, return 9th Oct) from Manchester. From there it's a very short bus/train ride to wherever you're staying.

Winbert, I hope Bob's info. arrives in time for your trip...do keep us posted! : ))

Great news Bob!
Do you happen to have their website details? (I realise it's currently down).
Thanks!

Yes Bob, diligimus in praeteritum solum tempus.

Still love Berlin though and there are always chance finds, but you definitely win the City Cine Detective of the month award.
Best wishes Bob and thanks so much for all your hard ground work.

Ohh, I am really sorry to see this topic too late.
Winbert, I live in Berlin.
And,at work we are two person in the same office, and my colleague in my office is also from Indonesia.

Hi Oemer, nice to hear from you.

Although I don't know your friend, send my best regard to him/her. Not so many Indonesians, I believe, live in Berlin.

Anywawy regarding the records shops, I found several, but most of them are selling high price, because they are segmented genre, while I am more general listener.

This webpage is helping me a lot: http://record-shops.org/

Funny how for this particular shop: http://record-shops.org/shops/berlin/prenzlauer-berg/franz-josef/#comment-126 I have different experience. Read those 50s bad comments, while my comment (the most last) is different.

BTW.....wffffuuuuiiihh.... [Eek!]

quote:
At least someone who acknowledges my hints, while the threadstarter is too busy rummaging through bargain bins in "Beelin".
That is obviously a typing error Bob...and it is now fixed.

And why I need to acknowledge your rumbles about super 8mm here, while you are obviously hijacking my thread and moreover this is in General Yak too. Open a new thread in 8mmforum with title e.g "I found 2 super 8mm shops in Berlin that you may acknowledge" or whatever.

Thanks for editing your message about Dodo Beach... you cut the long info you had given before...just beause I did not acknowledge your super 8mm found. [Big Grin]

Hi Bob....why don't you delete all your rumbles...it is kind not proper here as this is General Yak..... [Razz]
