He seems perfect for it. Doesn't he get cast as every crazy/eccentric character nowadays?
Posted by Pasquale DAlessio (Member # 2052) on February 09, 2016, 09:34 PM:
That's because he IS a crazy, eccentric character!
But he happens to have a lot of talent. So you don't know if he is acting or not.

British born Claude Rains will take some beating especially coming from Camberwell we love him so..
"Don't go down the shaft". The Clairvoyant

Didn't know he came from there - less than 10 minute bus journey from where I live. Herbert Lom's widow lives/lived about the same distance in the opposite direction

Catch 'The Clairvoyant' a Gaumont picture released in 1934 a film I never tire of watching. Also stars Fay Wray in quite a busy story, the best bit is where Claude says 'Don't go down the shaft' warning everyone of impending doom. Must dig out my Std 8 feature of Invisible Man now.

Is this because his career is starting to fade?
Badadump Tss!

Kevin Bacon also played the Invisible Man but nobody noticed...

Kevin Bacon's version was called Hollow Man. Very good movie. Case of wrong film at wrong time.

I can recall enjoying Kevin Bacon's hollow man. I was also much younger at the time. On one hand it's interesting to see what they do when rebooting some of these films, on the other hand I feel they never live up to the originals.

Just finished The Invisible Man Std 8mm. Claude Rains is on top game for sure. Amazing film for the year and effects.

... nobody noticed... because he was invisible ( like my joke.) Also, the lead actress was a shoe-in for the role. I'm here all week. Is this mike on?
