Been somewhat curious about the pending release of The Force Awakens Blu-Ray with different stories knocking around. I'm keen to hear if we will see a 3D disc available early on or will it be held back for a second hit of sales?
At present we have hints of a 3 disc set 2X BR and a DVD I believe.
Thoughts anyone.

A single layer Bluray disc can hold up to 25gb. An hour of film needs 13,5Gb in h264 at 30mbps rate.

Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits has confirmed through Disney/Lucasfilm that a 3D Blu-Ray disc has been authored.
The 3D version will be released "later this year". Possibly in December to cross promote the spin off movie Rouge One.

Yes indeedy thank you for the news Thomas, we did wonder if they would go for two retail hits. All I need to do now is work out to go for the first white, black or steel boxes. Twill be nice to see the film here.
