I'm not kidding. at the ABTT Theatre show yesterday Flint Theatrical Chandlers were showing (with video projection on it) a black screen with a good picture in the exhibition hall (Alexandra Palace).

I think it may still be under final development as it is not in the catalogue they were giving away. It seems to be an aerosol spray that when applied to a black surface (in this case black painted MDF) will give a non-directional projection screen. The people on the stand couldn't give details of how it worked, ut we rejected the thought of glass beads as they would be directional and on a black background would give a very dim picture.

I'll be keeping an eye on their web site http://www.flints.co.uk/content/ and pass on any further information.

Edit I now see they won an award for it see here:- https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/blackprojection?source=embed

This web site has some information on black projection screens.

Black Diamond

I wonder how it works with 3D? Only silver screens work with my View-Master projector which uses polarized separation of the two images.

That's really neat! I never heard of a black screen before...and you can watch with the lights on better too!
I saw somewhere as well someone making their own screen using a large sheet of 1/4" MDF (or just use a bare wall), and metallic paint, matte paint, and a paint roller. I should try it on my one wall...needs a new coat anyways [Smile]
