I've been watching with great sadness the catastrophic flooding in the Texas area of the States. Having spent time there visiting the State fair and meeting fellow collector Jim Reid and his friends I can only hope the rain will soon cease and your lives will resume some sort of order. Can't begin to imagine what I'd feel if my precious prints were under water. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

That's good to hear! (I e-mailed him this morning and haven't heard back.)

I was in Houston for a couple of days last winter. It's very flat there. I can't imagine their drainage being ready for the kind of rainfall we're hearing about.

Everything is okay. Best that can be expected. I am in the Galveston-Houston area, where it is all going on. We will survive. Thanks for your concerns.
Jim Reid lives no where near where this is happening.

The storm is starting to die off. There is still food in the cupboard, beer in the fridge, and the film archive remains intact.

Huzzah!

Do you have electric power at home? When Hurricane Sandy was pointed our way I watched a couple of last films and unplugged my machines (Power lines do some scary things in the middle of a storm!). It was something like five days before I plugged them back in again.

Where I work we use so much electric power we have our own power line straight from the generating plant. We never lost power, phone or internet the whole time. What a treat it was to come to work that week! If it wasn't for my family I might just have grabbed a sleeping bag and moved out here!

Steve, never lost power. We are so much better off than our neighbors in Houston.
