That wanted section post about "Poltergeist 2" reminded me of what I think was one of the best ever special effects I have ever seen in a film, even to this day, and that is the house inmploding and being sucked into the "demonic vortex" (so to speak) near the end of the first film!
I have never seen any behind the scenes footage as to how they did it, and there is a part of me that doesn't want to know and keep it a mystery, but I have always been fascinated with that special effect (back when special effects meant something beyond CGI), and I have always LOVED that special moment of film history!

I love the film, and have just watched it just to remind myself and yes, ground-breaking possibly.
Although, for myself, the kitchen scene and the bathroom scenes are what I always remember the most.
Kitchen scene in particular is enough to put anyone off KFC.
I've watched a few classic this week actually (having a week off), American Werewolf in London, Close Encounters, ET and now Poltergeist.
MMM.. what to watch next..
Kind Regards Mark.
[Edit] Forgot Jurassic Park..
