OK, some back story for you ...

I was at the library, and I was talking to an old fellow about how I just turned 53, as it was my birthday yesterday, (January 7th), there were three young teeenage couples at this coffee shop (in the upper part of our library), and I overheard one of them say, "Fu**in Old Man", to which the girlfriends giggled.

I took off my coat and promptly got down and did 60 push-ups, non-stop. Two of the young men, without saying a word, got up and dragged they're girlfriends out, the other couple stayed quiet as a mouse, I just went down to the "internet cafe" part of the library to do my business. I told a friend about this and he said, "C'mon Osi, did you REALLY do 60 push-ups?"

So, when I got home, I set up our FLIP digital camera and filmed myself, not doing 60 but 70 push-ups, and though I could have done more, I decided to stop. When i reviewed the video, it turned out that I had done 70 push-ups in 57 seconds! (from 24 seconds to 1 minute 21 seconds!). I had no idea that I had done so many in such a short time!

Therefore, enjoy an old fart doing what most 20, 30 or even 40 years can't do, and I'm 53!!!!

If people ask me as to how I'm able to do something like this at 53, I'll answer them ...

"Have you ever tried to lug an ELMO GS1200 around?"

That was impressive Osi, you did it properly, not cheating like so many do, by only going down a couple of inches. I was still using weights daily, just a couple of years ago, at the age of 63, but stopped after a shoulder injury doing a wide grip bench press. I do feel like taking it up again. 53 is not old these days. Well done.

Osi I would tend to have a more direct approach to such comments. I would pull up a chair opposite, but at the same table as them. Face them of, and at the same time dipping my finger into there drinks, then say....is that yours [Wink]

If they want to think of you as an old fart why not make them think you are a crazy old fart [Big Grin]

I guess that's my Scottish background coming out.

An amusing true story my father once told me, that in Glasgow where he worked, an elderly gentleman was try to park his car in the city, he was about to reverse into a space when some young guy in a we mini took it. The young guy got out of his car, went up to the elderly gentleman and said...you have to be young and fit to do that dad.....the old chap said nothing but continued to reverse his big old car into the mini pushing it onto the pavement.

The old chap got out, and went up to the young guy and said....you have to be old and rich to do that son.... [Big Grin]

Anyway happy birthday, mine was the 2nd of January....now hitting the 67 mark [Eek!]
