Very sad news indeed Paul and my thoughts are with his family and his close friends like yourself too - a peaceful passing is the best he could have hoped for with such an illness. He was certainly a larger than life character who lived life to the full and he will be greatly missed.
Sincerely, Kevin.

So sad. Although David told us at Blackpool that doctors told him there was no hope any more, there is always something inside us that doens't want to believe the worst will happen. Hope David didn't suffer too much the last weeks.

So sorry to hear this extremely sad news. I think it makes David's remarkable efforts to make his last Blackpool such a great success all the more humbling, as he clearly had even less time left than expected. I'm sure that all Blackpool regular attendees will always be grateful to David and his family for the last eight years, during which an event that was previously in decline became significantly better and more popular.

Very sad to hear this. Deepest condolences to his family. Only started delving into 16mm last year by purchasing a serviced, reliably-running NT1 from him. Hope to run something on it tonight in his honour. R.I.P.

Such sad news.
We will all miss David and his postings on the Forum. I have bought many films over the years from him and I will remember him every time I walk past the stack of films which came a couple of years ago at a bulk bargain price.
R.I.P.

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said - he got me into 16mm when I popped up to Ormskirk to buy my Bell and Howell 16mm and i've still got several prints that I haven't viewed yet - all from such a great showman. He was a genuine bloke and I am so pleased I got to socialise with him in Blackpool and acquire some great films from him.
My deepest sympathy to his wife and family,
R.I.P Mr Guest

Such sad news, and we knew was coming, yet difficult to actually grasp.
I can`t sort of get hold of it somehow.
David was a film dealer, but was often also very kind and thoughtful too.
I had a lot more nice friendly contacts and chats with David, than I ever bought films etc.
My thoughts are about David, and for his family.
Mark.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him, however I had the idea that David was a force of nature. It seemed he could get anything done once he set his mind to it. My deepest sympathies to his family and many friends.

I first read this very sad news yesterday on Facebook. Dave always had the knack of coming up with that film you thought you would never get. My deep condolences to all Dave's family and friends. That is yet another void that can never be filled and he is going to very sadly missed by a lot of people.

So sad to hear this news sooner than we expected but at least he died peacefully.
Tonight I will watch the 'Blackpool 2017' DVD in his memory and the hard work he gave in making it all happen.

I'm sure that David said at Blackpool that when he was given the news the doctors said he had three months. Assuming this was in October they were right and he had time to make the most of what he had left. I great pity he didn't have longer than expected.
RIP Dave.
