Cheers David,
Happy 4th to you too! ..It is pretty hot here and that means it's a good day to watch films inside with the A/C going.....

Thank you David.
Happy 4th!
I no longer have that red 16mm scope print of 1776, so I could watch the one odd reel of I have of Independence Day or the U-8 digest of Jaws, which is set during a Fourth of July weekend. Is there a digest of Yankee Doodle Dandy?

Birth of a Nation on July 4th for me.
With sound and full length
Waiting for bad weather to clear the area before I fire everything up
I actually have a copy of the pink print this is not faded pink due to age but they tried to introduce the idea of color to the theater audience and re-released this black-and-white movie with three different other colors pink green and blue
It looks pretty cool on my big screen as I have run it before years ago although I remember it the one sequence of a battle field is unfortunately very dark and hard to see
A few hours later I had the screening it is an excellent film to watch. 👍😀

Happy Independence Day to you to David and to all forum members. I don't have any films specifically related to Independence Day, but I did watch an educational reel documentary on Abraham Lincoln. It put me in a very patriotic mode while hearing fireworks popping outside my house window from the Great America amusement park.

Not sure if there was a digest of Yankee Doodle Dandy, but there was a reel with the title song, starting with watching the ship leave, on a Super 8 reel of Cagney. I just can't remember the title.

The highlights of Yankee Doodle Dandy are the Cagney song and dance sequence of the title number, Give My Regards to Broadway and the end scene with President Roosevelt and Cagney leaving the White House while tap dancing down the staircase. These three scenes are what makes it such a great movie, and it would have made an incredible 400ft digest.

The one I was thinking of was "Panorama Films (USA) presents" - "The Hollywood Musical" 400ft B&W sound. It consists of the "sell" of the show in the bar with Yankee Doodle played on the piano, the main Yankee Doodle number and horse race ending with All Aboard and the Give My Regards to Broadway number and dance. Sold by Derann as an import.

We already stay up later to watch films on the 4th of July as, hell, why even try to go to sleep with all that racket outside. I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but I'm a light sleeper, so we just stayed up ...
and ...
We decided to watch my lovely, unfaded 2X400ft of JAWS, (devin Loves that one!)
Plus a reel of tex Avery cartoons ...
Wild and Wooly
Little Rural Riding Hood
Red Hot Riding Hood
and then, we whipped out the scope lense for ...
Millionare Droopy
One Droopy Knight
Magoo beats the Heat
Muscle Beach Tom
Touche Pussycat
and ...
Rollercoaster (scope short) at the beginning of ...
STAR WARS Part 2 Ken films scope!
... and, a super 8 scope reel i actually shot of the 4th of July fireworks from 1989! (about 100ft)
FUN FUN FUN!
and then, after the fireworks outside finally stopped (11:50 PM) ... we slept!

I have The Yankee Doodle Dandy trailer on S-8 sound and 16mm, it's worth owning and this is packed with wonderful moments that plays well as an enlightening preview of the feature film.
