'The Epic That Never Was' is a BBC 70 minute documentary made in 1965 that is introduced and narrated throughout by Dirk Bogarde. It tells the story of the abandoned production in 1937 of 'I Claudius1 being made at Denham studios by Alexander Korda. Charles Laughton was in the title role and it was plagued by many problems, along with the leading lady - Merle Oberon being injured in a car crash. Flora Robson was also in the cast. Much footage from this unfinished film is used and it is well worth seeing. Screened and presented by David Wyatt with supporting shorts. The format is all 16mm.

February 28th
'Jackpot' (GB 1960). William Hartnell heads the cast in this crime second feature directed by Montgomery Tully who brings a practised skill in keeping a narrative moving briskly along. Presented and screened by Anthony Saffrey, again on 16mm.

March 21st
The Man Who Never Was' (GB 1955) will be shown in a wide screen format on an 8ft screen with good quality colour. Has the program for April been announced? I want to know if a show coincides with the BFCC date. We (the Greek Mafia) always attend when it does.

Following the 9.5 magazine (in case you were not refering to it), on the 11th April, there will be the Group 9.5 Annual General Meeting. Here is what is written about it : "non members welcome. This will be followed by the showing of 9.5 optical sound. titles will be included in our next issue."

There is a mistake in the magazine. The date for the AGM is a week later the 18th april. This will be corrected in the next magazine out soon. All meetings now will all be 3 weeks apart hence the mistake.

.......Oh , NO .... It will be also at the same time, from 10.00 a.m..!! Why did they do that, since most of their members do also attend the BFCC ?

The A.G.M. has always been on a Saturday EVENING. I do not think it clashes with Ealing because that finishes late afternoons. The committtee have always tried to ensure the dates and times do not clash. Perhaps you are confusing the regular evening Pimlico meetings with the "Spring Fair". Ken Finch.

The magazine doesn't give any timetable for the AGM, so I assumed it started at 7.30 pm like the other meetings. Could a member confirm at what time it starts ?

ALL the group 9.5 meetings, including the AGM, all start at 8pm. (the magazine always quotes 7:30 but in reality all start at 8pm.)

I was happy to come to the meeting yesterday. Sad I don't live in London (or Paris where there are also monthly 9.5 projections). It's always magical to see a projector in action with people around enjoying it.

It was so nice, only two weeks after the BFCC and the 9.5 meeting (the same night) to see again the British ninefivers. Sevral members or reader of the forum were there and it is always a pleasure to see people in real. I came back to Belgium with no less than 6 sounds and one silent film, all 9.5. I wish I couls have stayed longer but my bag was too heavy ! - - - -
