I have a Pathescope Vox which runs work really well.
The one problem though is that the sprocket hole partially shows on the lower part of the screen.
I’ve adjusted the frame control but the problem persists.
As anyone any suggestions what maybe causing this and is there a remedy?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Ron....Does this problem persist on all your films or only on certain ones,could be that the ones it shows on have slightly shunk or grease and muck bluid up in the claw mechanism....Of course you've already checked that your framer is free and travelling properly.

Ron. It's a worn claw matey. They pit and you wont frame up as result, one I learned in the 80's.

You need to replace the claw a simple project I am more than happy to guide you thru.
Once you have a spare good claw.

I’ve managed to locate a claw from another Vox which is slowly crumbling away.
The claw looks OK but I’m flummoxed as to how to remove the retaining nut that holds claw in position. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Ron sorry for the delay lots of medical appointments. OH MOOTHER!

Take note my friend.
Take off the black plate cover of the front. You will then see a nut that holds the old claw in place.
NOTE!!!!!! The nut turns CLOCKWISE to un screw it and those naughty French chaps put a reverse thread on it. UN SCREW CLOCKWISE.

If a spring is attached un clip it.

When fitting the new..ish claw put some HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE on the cam. I got a tub off a heating engineer great stuff, lasts and wont melt.

Re old claws. Most of us used to file the pits out of the old claws to stabilise the projected image. The problem is it can move the frame line beyond projectable.

I picked up the 9-5 Vox hobby from my late father who was keen on them in the 1940's. Think its OK to say I learned everything from the master over the years bless him.
