First off- Thanks so much for all of the help with the dust issue. You guys are the greatest.
I have a question about jumpy films. I bought 10 Super 8 50ft Disney shorts and they were brand new (still in the shrink wrap) condition. I'm thinking being in shrink wrap for so long is NOT a good thing as they all are extremely jumpy!
Most of my films run smooth and look very good and the used films I've purchased from collectors seem to run and look very good as well!
Sooooo...... Is there anything I can do to try to save these films that jump like crazy or am I out of luck?

Hi Timothy. The films probably need "lubricating". being new and "shrink wrapped" for a number of years means that thay are "dry". Just clean them with a reputable cleaner (a number of which have been disussed on this forum) and they should then glide thru the projector.

Timothy,
Keith is right; de-hydration is most likely the reason.
Also, just sitting without being unwound at all for years and years creates what is called "memory." Much as with a reel-to-reel tape that hasn't moved for ages, winding it from reel to reel before playing can sometimes do a world of good, just to loosen up the layers.
