Chinon 330MV, I got mine from Ebay for $25.

There are also cheap super 8mm sound projectors from other brands: Bell Howell, Minolta, Hanimex, AGFA, etc. As long as they are not Sankyo and Elmo or European brands as well as not big reel capacity (i.e not more than 400' reel capacity), they can come cheap.

I wouldn't recommend getting a "cheap" projector, but rather an inexpensive one. That being said, with a little patience you can get a high quality one rather inexpensively.

Rather than this becoming another "what's the best projector" thread, try doing a search of this forum and you will find a wealth of information on projectors and their pluses and minuses.

The ST1200 is a very nice projector, and sometimes you can find one priced very low. This projector has stereo sound capability, a bright light source, will accept 1200' reels, and the belts ( and most parts ) are readily available.

There are other models available like the ST-800 which will only take up to 800' reels, that are less expensive and may satisfy your needs unless you need 1200' reel capacity. Typically, the cheaper a projector costs, the cheaper its construction and the poorer its performance.

Do yourself a favor and invest in quality equipment, you will be much happier in the long-run !

I am not familiar with Pat's model Sankyo, but Sankyo are know for their quality and 35 bucks with free shipping is a great bargin.

If you are willing to be patient and look hard you can get great deals. I buy $5 and $10 projectors at garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores. I find a lot of Bell and Howell projectors in that price range. They are well built but, like the previous posts, not top of the line. I did pick up an Elmo ST-180E at an estate sale for $15, that was my best find. It was in like new condition, just needed new belts. It is a lot harder to find sound projectors but they do pop up every now and then. Most projectors that I find this way are Regular 8mm not Super 8.
