I obtained an Elmo Gs1200 Xenon for E300. The machine appears
complete but it was obviously badly treated. Its not working &
'popping' some fuses. My intention is to completley restore it to its former glory but due to the absence of spare parts this
may be an impossible task..

Welcome to the Forum! We do have the service manual (for the tungsten model) available for download here. Please check the Manuals link in the upper left corner.

You might also want to speak with the highly regarded UK Elmo specialist Bill Parsons. His information can be found on the BFCC site.

Tkns Doug for the info. Yes after joining the forum i quickly have found the service manual & although it is for the tungsten
GS the mechanics and motor\ amp circuits appear to be similiar.
Its been a great help to me for dismantling and i will try the link you supplied..

I have no idea what your specific problem may be with that GS1200, but in my (limited) experience 90% of the problems on GS1200's seem to be switch and contact related.

At first the lamp mirror is lost. To find it it's hard.
Second: if the main fuse is burn out, the power lamp supply is broken. I know how to fix it, but after you'll have to check the igniter too.
Third: where is the front lid? without it a safety switch doesn't close the circuit, and to switch on the lamp is impossible...
Anyway I have the diagrams of the the power supply/igniter

It looks as if you have the lamp mirror in your 2nd picture, this is good as Ugo says they are hard to find, equivalent lamps are still obtainable, the safety switch Ugo mentioned is easy to bypass for testing.
Please remember Ugo it was me that told you how to repair the Xenon power supplies, a bit of credit would be nice,

Desmond, if you do get the projector working ok, I can provide you with a front cover for a standard GS1200, it would require a couple of small modifications.

Tkns V much Paul,Ugo, and esp Bill for the offer of a front cover but as i was saying the projector is pretty much intact
and my initial photo was showing the machine in the start of
stripdown. T'was only after starting work on it that i decided
to post some pics (hence its looking a little naked in the pic!)
Yes Ugo there appears to be problems with the lamp power supply
with shorts on the driver 2Sc 2139 transistors and some fast diodes in trouble also there is problems on the igniter board.
(someone has aready been at these) I would really appreciate a copy of the lamp's power supply as i intend to repair it. The covers are damaged and i am having them restored and repainted.

Yes tkns Ugo I got your e\mail. i went to that link you provided and as im not registered i was unable to LOG-in to the site.
(UPDATE 6-5-11) After some initial reg. problems (now sorted)
I was able to obtain the schematic diagram(s) for the XeNoN
power supply for the GS\1200 Tkns again Ugo..

I would not, in my wildest of dreams, ever try to to what you are doing with your Elmo or any other unit. What a gift you fellas have for electronics. Absolutely priceless!

Tkns Brad for your comment's. In fact the Elmo's electronics are not as difficult to work on in comparasion with to-day's
hi-tec devices -which make it easier for me to get around
its basic circuitry.In its time (this model is 1981) it would have been advanced with its electronics etc. (esp.its Xenon Power supply) but its electronics design would be so much different,smaller & lighter, and more power efficient, were it being manufactured to-day 30 yrs on...

The Elmo GS 1200 Xenon restoration is still on-going and its been difficult to obtain spares but that situation has now improved and i hope soon to have the projector up and running.
I will post an update with some more pic's and hopefully a small
video (to show projector in action) so just to let you folk's know that im still out here working on the projector..
