im curious, since there were so many different releases for some disney classics, (specifically i would like to know about cinderella) If the sticker said super colour, it would mean its silent. But did they come with sound strips anyways like silent star wars films did??

Anthony, if the sticker says "Color" only, it means silent. And Disney would not put any sound strip.

The only films I knew come with additional soundtrack is that Star Wars (on cassette) and several Americom releases (on 7" vinyl).

As for Walt Disney, my advice is to locate only sound version as they are plenty on Ebay hence price less than $10.

I have 3 copies of Cinderella and I believe I am not alone here..... rarity rate is 1 for WD [Wink]

Winbert is correct; generally, an original COLOR only sticker means silent for Disney. Only an additional SOUND sticker indicates magnetic sound.

However, in the 1990's many copies of colour / silent releases such as, "Cinderella's Suprise Dress" were opened (by companies unknown [Wink] ) had sound stripe added and were then recorded; then sold as "new" colour / sound versions with convincing SOUND stickers added to the box...

They were indeed colour / sound, but the remaining super-imposed subtitles made them laughable...

Buyer beware of these! [Wink]

Also, there are some very rare WDHM releases, such as "A Most Befuddling Thing" from The Sword in the Stone. [Smile]

My Star Wars 200ft color silent came with a blank soundstripe, and subtitles. My silent Apollo 16 200ft film from Movie Newsreels also came with a blank soundstripe.

I guess they would print silent editions on whatever film stock was available, even if it had a magnetic strip on it.
