Hello there , I bought an Bolex Kern Paillard C8 Camera for use in Photography. I have no experience with the reel sizes but I read that my camera uses 25 feet , 7.5 meters long film. I dont know whether this was included the daylight use film part for loading the camera.

Anyway , does 10 meters regular 8mm film is too big for the camera or is it commonly easily used reel size ?

If not how can I use the reel , transfer in to smaller reel by hand ? Is it safe for camera and image ?

Thank you ,

10 meters or 33 feet is the standard 8mm film length. The extra 2.5 meters or 8 feet is used to protect the middle 7.5 meters during daylight loading of the camera, which means 1.25 meters or 4 feet at each end is used just to shield the film while loading. The reel is not too big and will fit your C8 camera.

Enjoy your Bolex

I confirm, we talked about it here: http://8mmforum.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=print_topic;f=1;t=008521
I use the 10 meter Fomapan without any problems, although currently it seems to be the only double 8 to be available in 10 mt.
