Did Elmo produce hard cases for the GS? Seems funny that every ST1200 you see has a nice hard case, but the GS has a cursory soft case, if you're lucky! I know it's a beast of a machine but it is portable - and I'd like some proper protection for it when it's not in use.

I don't believe they did Stuart.I guess the Japanese figured these units were only just about able to be carried by having only a dust cover let alone the additional weight of a carry case on top!
All the big three were only issued with a dust cover though there was an additional extra aluminium flight case that could be purchased for the Beaulieu range. Not many around though.

You would probably be able to find a suitably sized flight case for it somewhere like Hard To Find records, dj kit etc.

Did you get a case for your GS1200?
A case for my GS1200 would be nice indeed, but the pick up handel needs to stick out of the top, so you carry the whole by the projector itself.
I do not dare to carry it otherwise.
This will also make the complete set smaller, like the ST1200.

I did buy a case for the Beauer T610, but this made the whole set very large, while this is not a giant prrojector.

There was no case made for the Elmo GS1200! Just a dust cover! But it would be nice if they did!

It is possible to find the case that would be made for photography gear just have the measurements of the projector with a little extra room for Extra space and cushioning the New York camera shops such as B&H photo Should be able to have one in the size you need

Checking the Internet here is a possibility and a good place to start

I was thinking along the lines of Chip...

How about a Pelican case with cut-outs that can be shaped for the GS, or any other projector for that matter. I would likely aim for one with wheels and a pull up handle too. Carrying that case would be quite the straining workout!

How about something like this:
