I'm setting up my gear for my Halloween Window Show this year. I will be showing both Super 8 silent films with a separate Halloween music track and a composite of digital sound videos. I moved my regular viewing screen off to the side so I could place my speakers at the opened front window. I have a small DVD/CD player connected to the speaker to play the music during the silent films. I have another DVD player connected to my digital projector and the audio also going into the speakers. I just switch going back and forth from film to digital during the night. This year my son Darrin is home to help with the trick-or-treaters.

The film projections sound nice, Janice. I'm not fan of digital but enjoy 👻

Very cool Janice!
This past Saturday night I hosted my annual Halloween party complete with a haunted house and Super 8 films on the big screen. This year I featured horror/comedy, and ran Universal 8 400' versions of "Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein," "A&C meet the Mummy," and "A&C meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," Columbia 400' Three Stooges in "Creeps," Ken Films' "Love at First Bite," Techno Films 400' Scooby Doo in "A Night of Fright is No Delight," and a 600' reel I comprised of Winnie Witch in "Have Broom, will Travel," The Little Rascals in "Spooky Hooky," Disney's "Trick or Treat" featuring Donald and his nephews, and Columbia's 200' "The Werewolf." Happy Halloween all!

Sounds like you had a terrific show Carter. I only have a few 200ft reels that I splice onto 800 and 600ft reels. But with the loud music and decorations it's impressive enough. The kids love it and so do the parents. It's a lot of work... but worth it. Many of the kids want to pop their heads in the doorway to get a glimpse of the projector [Smile]

Here are a few pics from last nights Halloween Window Show. I had one film mishap. The 800 ft. takeup reel decided to not do it's job halfway through the reel. Luckily it was near the leader I had spliced between each separate movie. I just cut the leader and using another takeup reel to finish the reel. The digital projector took over while I spliced the whole reel back together . Second time around it ran fine [Smile] All in all everything turned out great and many stayed and stood on the front lawn watching the movies.

Darrin did a masterful job of carving the pumpkin this year and I placed it front and center under the front window.

I also found a wonderful Halloween prop. It's a small projector replica that projects a skull and flickers. It is sound activated and automatically turns on with a loud scary laugh as it projects the skull...very cool!

I'll be putting a video together and post a link when completed.

Really, really, cool Janice. Your Haloween film show window must now be reaching iconic status on your street, and on this forum. [Smile]

Thank you Paul for the recognition and kind words. It's nice to share a little bit of my hobby with my neighbors and to hear how much they appreciate the effort in putting together a little show like this. I don't know if I'll have the energy to do it next year...will see. I encourage others on the Forum to try and do something similar. It's well worth the effort.

Beautiful job Janice! You are creating a Halloween tradition for the neighborhood that will be remembered for quite some time. Your presentation is fantastic, and so much fun for anyone who happens to catch your show. I bet families will be talking about your efforts, and they appreciate your energy!

Carter,

What a great grouping of fright films!

Janice,

Spectacular! You inspired me to add some projection to my decorations in the front hallway.

Behind my dieting friend is a scene from House of Frankenstein from Universal 8's The Best of Horror (Part 1).

I'm sorry I don't participate here so often, but out of curiosity I entered this thread and wow, I have to say I'm very impressed! I already regret not having worn a costume on Halloween (I have to confess the night before I didn't sleep because I was collecting documentation to apply for a new job, so didn't have any time to prepare it) and here we don't have this tradition on celebrating Halloween (althought kids and teenagers are doing so from a handful years now) - but this is a very cool montage! I'm sure the entire neighbourhood was very impressed and the kids would have been astonished by this. I imagine myself staring at the window for hours had I been there [Smile]

Congrats, Janice! You are a real and very cool pro!

@Doug...Now you're talkin'! Really nice! ... I'll bet the trick-or-treater's loved it!

@Pere...So glad you stumbled onto this thread and thank you. Not everyone logistically can do the window projection...but projecting to an outdoor screen, blank wall, or garage door might be feasible. Maybe there will be even more members giving it a try next Halloween [Smile]
