Can’t locate where the belt is on my S807. Is it possible it doesn’t use one?

Hey Brad,

I think there are even chain drives in there, as well as the famous Eumig disk drive, but no belts!

It’s the joy of these: mine has been so reliable I haven’t really needed to explore the innards!

No belts just the Eumig disk drive system. The drive from the motor makes contact with a rubber coated disk attached to the drive shaft for forward motion. There's another for reverse. The rubber disks need to be kept clean. There's a spray called AF Platenclene intended for printer rollers which seems to work well and is available cheaply on line.

What is the square red button on the spine of the projector for? Are these rubber rollers easy to access?

If it's what I'm thinking, it's the record key.

This is the manual for the 810, not quite the same yet at least close enough:

Owner's Manual Eumig 810

The disks are pretty apparent as soon as you remove the side panel. (They are mounted towards the stern.)

What's cool about them is they are a true continuously-variable transmission decades before they started putting them in cars!

-wouldn't you love having a car built by Eumig in the spirit of the 800 series? Simple, reliable, rugged?

You'd be hard pressed to reach 70MPH, but it would get you where you were going for a long time!

Will is correct. Van Eyck also maintains that the S802 and S807 do not use belts. They are chain driven. Could be good or not good depending on one’s preference, I suppose. Coke vs. Pepsi.
