No, not any film is up for grabs unfortunately. When I spoke to Phil at CHC he said there has to be a good source available, and then they have to be able to make a negative to print from, which costs about 6000 British Pounds.
So for a film they haven't already made a neg of (i.e. less mainstream films I guess) then you would need quite a few customers to bring the price down to something sensible.

Say's it all Pete, why not just buy the film you want on 16mm.
The price of s/8 new is now self destructive, who wants to pay outlandish prices for a self depricating piece of film. Sorry, not this
horse, i would rather buy the dvd and project it for a lot cheaper.
Film now has run it's course, as a medium for new prints, as I said in an earlier thread, the secondhand market will flourish, but new releases will eventually die off.

Mainly because I'm yet to see a 16mm print of ESB, ROTJ or Star Wars that are better than the Super8 releases.

I would always prefer 16mm, just can't often find it in good quality.

Hello, Hugh. We all know that a dvd is cheaper that a film, but there are two different things. Woul you compare the cost a new Rolls Royce with the price of an old bicycle ? [Wink]
